Engagement sessions are all about getting to know your photographer, being comfortable in front of the camera, and having photos taken of yourselves in public.

Your wedding photographer will be with you throughout your wedding day to capture each and every moment, so it’s important that you are both comfortable with one another, as they will be taking photographs of you that you will look back on for years to come.

When you book your wedding photographer, you will likely have already had a consultation either in-person, over the phone, or via webcam. An engagement shoot gives you the opportunity to meet your photographer in-person and connect with them personally, in a scenario that is more accustomed to how your wedding day will be. It also gives you; and the photographer, an opportunity to discuss the style of photographs that you would like, and an opportunity to try those ideas out in practice. Once edited, this should give you a much better idea of how your wedding photographs will turn out.

Usually; but not always, couples will book an engagement shoot not too long after they get engaged, and this can make for some extra special moments – as your still feeling those butterflies from that special day!

1: Posing

Not everyone likes to pose – so it’s great to get comfortable with which poses you like and dislike in front of the camera. Your photographer should do a great job at making you feel at ease and remove any shyness or anxiety, so you and your partner look natural and comfortable in your photos.

2: Hair & Make-up Trials

This isn’t just a great chance to get to know your wedding photographer! It’s also the perfect occasion to have your hair and makeup done by your chosen vendor. This way you will have a much better idea of what you’d like on your wedding day. This isn’t a necessity though.

3: A chance to visit your wedding venue

You may or may not have booked your wedding venue yet. If you haven't, take a look at these beautiful wedding venues I've put together.
