Chances are you’re reading this because you just got engaged, and now you’re looking at planning your wedding and choosing the most important aspect of it, the wedding venue! There are stunning wedding venues all across the United Kingdom, but in this article, I’m going to focus on those that are local to myself as a Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset Wedding Photographer. And some you may not know about.
Your wedding venue is where you will be married, and where all your friends and family will be to celebrate with you. It’s also more than likely the place all your wedding photography will be taken, other than the church or registry office.
I can't plan your wedding for you, but I can find you truly beautiful wedding venues in Devon and wedding venues in Cornwall to host your wedding.
1. Trevenna Barn
Trevenna Barns is less than an hour's drive away from Plymouth, my hometown, situated near Liskeard, Cornwall, and boasts gorgeous barns to host ceremonies, receptions, and celebrations.
Every season at Trevenna brings new reasons to celebrate and the venue is surrounded by beautiful Cornish countryside views; the perfect hide-away location to enjoy your wedding celebrations.
2. The Great Barn
The Great Barn is aptly named because at 23 metres long and 7 metres wide, it is in essence, one breathtakingly beautiful enormous space. The scale means that pretty much everything happens in a single sociable place.
Seating over 160 guests at round tables and around 190 guests at trestles, there are very few wedding venues in Devon that have this kind of capacity without having to go through the huge trouble and expense of putting up a marquee. It also means your party will never be split, everyone will be in the same space from the start to the end of your day.
3. ANRÁN, Ashburton, Newton Abbot
ANRÁN is a unique location for those who want to really impress on that very special day. The ANRÁN owners not only have a wealth of experience in creating exciting, fun, and interesting occasions, but the estate has so many different areas which are different from the norm…Impress your guests with something new and original…maybe a marquee at the lake or simple clotted cream tea reception in the Manor, cocktails in The Glass House and Dinner under The Old Oak Tree, or a hog roast at The Hay Barn.
4. Pynes House
One of Devon’s best-kept secrets, Pynes House is waiting to welcome you home for your wedding.
Pynes House is owned by two families who have been the custodians since 2011. Over the years, they have painstakingly restored, refurbished, and loved the house back to its former glory. The building continues to evolve today and it's absolutely stunning!
5. Upton Barn & Walled Garden
An award-winning barn wedding venue, nestled in the heart of the rolling Devonshire countryside
Upton Barn in Devon has the rare ability to make you feel at home from the moment you step through the doors. It brings people together, filled with pockets of magic in every corner, along with the promise of an epic celebration. Exclusively yours with a focus on service, style and sustainability, their beloved family farm has been created with you in mind.
6. The Deer Park Country House
A stylish and exceptionally relaxed country house where impeccable hospitality and modern thinking blend together seamlessly. Weddings are their forte. Inside or out, Pared down or turned up.
Take over the house with its beautiful lounges. They supply the backdrop, the ambiance and all the right ingredients. From the Italian garden to the Georgian orangery, each backdrop is breath-taking.
8. Hotel Endsleigh, Milton Abbot
I defy anyone to find a more beautiful spot in the whole of England. There is no traffic or aircraft noise, no light pollution, just the sound of the Tamar river.
9. Kingston Estate
The Kingston Estate in Devon, near Totnes, is one of the best Country House wedding and wedding reception venues you can find to host your perfect day.
The general site of Kingston has been occupied for centuries however the present house was built in 1735 for John Rowe, a wealthy wool merchant, and is considered by many historians to be one of the finest surviving Georgian gentlemans residence in Devon.
11. The Green, Cornwall
As you coast gently downhill from the granite-speckled heights and wild, sweeping contours of Bodmin Moor, the open expanses give way to rolling dense woodland. In a wonderfully secluded spot, where lush hills tumble into the idyllic river valley below and a picture-perfect patchwork of orchards and meadows cloaks the horizon, you’ll find The Green. Your ready-made wedding village – wholly private and an endlessly pretty place to get married.
12. Brympton House
Brympton House is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in the picturesque Somerset countryside! The grounds are breathtaking and for wedding photographers, there are endless opportunities for photos.
