Documentary Wedding Photography Across Devon & Cornwall

Your wedding day happens once. The nervous laughter while your dad tries not to cry. Your best friend's face when she sees you in that dress. The look you share at the altar that says everything without a single word. These are the moments that matter - and they don't wait for a photographer to say "ready."

I'm Mark, a documentary wedding photographer based in Devon, and I specialise in capturing your wedding exactly as it happens. No awkward posing, no interrupting the best moments of your life to "get the shot." Just real, honest, beautiful photography that tells the story of your day from the chaos of the morning to the last song on the dance floor.

Based in Plymouth and working across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, and beyond - if you want a wedding photographer who makes you forget there's a camera in the room, we should talk.

What to Expect From Your Devon Wedding Photographer

I'm the photographer who'll make you feel like you've known me for years within five minutes of meeting. The one who'll catch your nan's reaction during the speeches, your flower girl's meltdown (in the best way), and that spontaneous kiss when you think nobody's watching.

I've been photographing weddings across Devon for over 7 years, and what I've learned is that the best wedding photos aren't the ones you plan - they're the ones that happen when you stop thinking about the camera and start living your day. That's exactly what I help you do.

03. On the day

I’ll arrive bright and early to capture all the little details — the dress, the nerves, the laughter — while blending into the background. During the ceremony, I’ll be up front catching all the emotion, and if there’s confetti, we’re absolutely doing a confetti shot! From morning to night, I’ll be there capturing the hugs, laughs, and happy tears that tell your whole story.

01. Save the date

Drop me an email or use my contact form to check if I’m free on your date. If I am, I’ll send over your contract, and booking fee invoice. Once that’s sorted, the date is all yours! Closer to the big day, we’ll catch up to go over the final details.

02. Book and plan ahead

If you’re anything like me, having your photo taken might feel a bit awkward — but don’t worry! An engagement shoot before the big day will help you relax and feel totally at ease. We’ll head out for a fun little adventure around sunset, share some laughs, and capture some truly magical moments.

Real Wedding Stories From Devon & Cornwall

I've had the privilege of photographing weddings at some of Devon and Cornwall's most stunning venues. Each one offers something unique, and knowing the light, the layouts, and the hidden corners means I can capture your day at its absolute best.

Natural Wedding Photography at Upton Barn and Walled Garden

Relaxed, rustic, and surrounded by rolling Devon countryside. The vineyard rows make for gorgeous couple portraits, especially in late summer light.

There's nowhere quite like it. The hand-carved tunnels opening up to a private beach - it's dramatic, intimate, and photographs beautifully in any weather.

The walled garden at golden hour is something special. The warm stone, climbing roses, and incredible cider barn create endless opportunities for natural, romantic photography.

How do I choose the right Devon wedding photographer?

How much does a wedding photographer in Devon cost?

Look for a photographer whose style matches the feel you want for your wedding day. If you want natural, relaxed photos rather than stiff, posed shots, look for someone who specialises in documentary or candid wedding photography. Meet them beforehand - you'll spend more time with your photographer than almost anyone else on your wedding day, so it's important you click.

Wedding photography in Devon typically ranges from £1,200 to £3,000+ depending on coverage hours, the photographer's experience, and what's included. My packages start from £1650. You can see my full pricing and what's included on my pricing page.

What happens if it rains on my wedding day?

When should I book my Devon wedding photographer?

Some of my favourite wedding photos have been taken in the rain! Devon weather is part of the charm. I'll adapt to whatever the day throws at us - dramatic skies, misty moors, and rain-soaked confetti shots can be incredibly atmospheric.

I'd recommend booking 12-18 months ahead, especially for summer dates. I only take a limited number of weddings each year to ensure every couple gets my full attention. Once your deposit is paid and contract signed, your date is secured.
